Picking Up the Slack

So, it turned out to be a struggle to keep the blog on-going during the travelling; largely due to my poor decision to leave the laptop behind.

Anyway, I'll be chronologically recounting the journey with text, pics, and eventually videos in the days to come (before uni ties me down).

Watch this space. In the meantime, here's some Langkawi beauty...

News Worth Blogging About

Apart from the initial one positive swine case eariler in the week, the rest of us have just been informed that all our swab tests have returned negative results - didn't suprise me to be honest.

The flip side of this news is that langkawi is on the cards for tomorrow. This is a flight north from where we are. We will be staying there for a couple of days I believe and the fly east to Sabah. More on the itiniary when I know it. The main purpose of this post is the negative results.

Still, some restrictions apply. Seeing as though we are required to be quarantined for 7 days from when the initial case was discovered, our trips will require face masks, our own personal medical team, and other conditions. This will add a bit of spice to the photos I spose.

Speaking of photos, I may be able to upload some soonish considering quarantine is most likely coming to an end.

Updates later. Typing on the iPod is a somewhat tiring task.

Our Plastic Bubble cont'd

Well there isn't much to write or post in terms of activities and pictures; the swine concerns seem to be winning that battle.

The story changes a lot regarding what is/will be going on. We got throat swabbed this morning and have out temps taken twice a day everyday. The results from the swabs should be in tomorrow. One girl may already be confirmed.

We can't leave our area at all pretty much. Face masks are prominant. All this being said, we r being looked after really well considering the circumstances. Malaysia seems like a fantastic place; we would love the opportunity to see it asap.

NB: I feel healthy as ever. I don't know how il be if we are cooped up for much longer tho. That will be the killer.

All is good, so far.

Pictures will come once swine makes an exit.

Our Plastic Bubble

Well we made it here, after a somewhat comfortless flight. The 9 of us were picked up by our mate CK in a bus to be taken back to the uni.

This was the start of the swine bubble.

Considering our lack of ability to leave campus once we arrived, CK decided to detour and show us some sights; these being the govt building close to the uni. Some very large and interesting structures being built.

Apart from one US dude, we were the first main group here. Have now met most ppl from Australia, UK, US and a lot of the locals. We seem to be very interesting to them...more on this to come.

Due to our tight little swine bubble here on campus, I'm posting this from my iPod..hence the lack of visuals. These will come wen I get a chance to upload my pics.

Liking the winterness at home??..it's hot here, suckers

Progress..What Progress?

Uni has been done, for 2 weeks, and it seems procrastination continues. Mellowing out has been in order, for once.

Leaving in 3 days, I probably should have the packing procedures underway. As you can see, this isn't happening. This is what the day before is for, right? Lets' just hope this doesn't backfire.

A Great Way to Improve My Day

Sitting, waiting and passing time by taking off architectual plans, the Central Coast office was just not cutting it; the boss was taking too long. That's when the mobile phone came into play..

The call couldn't have come at a better time. The nice young voice from the Vice-Chancellor's Office, Newcastle University.

"Why yes" I said, I'll agree to a free trip to Malaysia. 1 month? OK. Study? I can handle that. Climb 4km high mountains? Yes please. This offer is because of my grades......?

IT SEEMS COUNTLESS HOURS OF GRINDING OUT UNI-RELATED SHAMBLES AT 3AM DOES PAYOFF.

In all seriousness, new culture, new exciting environment, fresh faces; this is definately a good thing. So stay tuned.

P.S. Swine Flu is NOT in the back of my mind......................
